Abstract
The emergence of Auto-ID technologies has allowed products to be tracked by application software and record or retrieve information about themselves, thus providing them with some kind of intelligence. This study aims to provide a clear view on the notion of intelligent products and built a framework for the evaluation of its impact in supply chain management. The results will enable potential users to decide on either the adoption, or rejection, of intelligent products in their operations.
