Abstract
Dr Hugh Hunt, has examined and recreated for television one of the most famous engineering feats of the Second World War: Barnes Wallis’s ‘bouncing bomb’. The programme retraces the experiments and reasoning that led Wallis to design the bombs that successfully breached the Moehne and Eder dams, and end with a recreation (up to a point?) of a bombing-run.
The programme will be broadcast at 20.00 on Monday 2 May, on Channel Four.
The Department of Engineering are showing the programme at 16.30 on Monday 9th May Lecture Theatre 0 followed by a Q&A session.
Channel 4 have uploaded some video footage from the programme on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IeGYkwVIWw&feature=youtu.be
