Abstract
In partnership with the Screen Media Research Seminar at CRASSH (Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities), Cambridge Ukrainian Studies presents a public lecture by Dr Vitaly Chernetsky entitled ‘Cinema and the Making of Modern Ukraine’.
Dr Chernetsky is Associate Professor in the Department of German, Russian, and East Asian Languages at Miami University (Ohio) and President of the American Association for Ukrainian Studies. He is the author of Mapping Postcommunist Cultures: Russia and Ukraine in the Context of Globalization (Montreal: McGill-Queenβs University Press, 2007) and translator of Yuri Andrukhovych’s Moscoviad into English (New York: Spuyten Duyvil, 2008) and Edward Said’s Culture and Imperialism into Ukrainian (Kyiv: Krytyka, 2007).
