Abstract
“Richard Harris after many years working in industry, including 25 years as a structural engineer with Buro Happold, has held the post of Professor of Timber Engineering at the University of Bath since 2009. Over the past year he has taken the opportunity to travel to Japan and New Zealand. This talk will show some of the timber engineering research he has seen in these countries as well as that currently being carried out at the University of Bath. The recurrent theme is that of research that leads to better understanding of timber properties that enables better use of timber through innovative construction methods.”
