Abstract
The Cambridge Centre for Climate Science (CCfCS) has been established to promote research and other activities in Climate Science going on at several Departments of the University of Cambridge (Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Geography and Plant Sciences) and at the British Antarctic Survey.
Cambridge scientists have already made very important contributions to climate science. Many talented young scientists have been recruited in recent years and are now establishing their careers here. Cambridge offers an excellent opportunities in climate science for PhD students and for Research Fellows and other postdoctoral researchers.
This mini symposium will include talks from Dr Andrew Friend, Dept. of Geography; Prof. Eric Wolff, BAS and Prof. Julia Slingo, chief scientist, Met. Office.

- 3:30 pm Prof. Eric Wolff, British Antarctic Survey: Interglacials: the strength and length of warm periods in the last 800,000 years.
- 4:00 pm Tea
- 4:30 pm Prof. Julia Slingo, Chief Scientist, Meteorological Office: The Met. Office strategy for weather and climate research.
