Long-life sea surface temperature

Sea surface temperature anomalies that last for months are a key ingredient of long-range (seasonal) forecasts. In this talk I shall describe two different aspects of long-lasting SST anomalies - tropical Pacific ENSO and mid-latitude re-emergence – with the help of some simple models that help us understand these phenomena.
