Abstract
Do you think we live in a fair society? Are we all given the same opportunities and access to health? With the national pride that is the NHS , you might think so. But the reality couldn’t be more different. In terms of health equity, England ranks as one of the worst performers amongst developed European nations.
The government commissioned ‘Marmot Review’ in 2010 was deeply critical of the way in which socioeconomic divides were perpetuating and deepening health inequalities.
Come and listen to the pre-eminent Professor Sir Marmot, the chair of the review, talk about health inequalities in England, progress two years on from his report, and the new challenges presented by the economic downturn - this is an event not to be missed!
