Abstract
Explore issues involved in modern use of an ancient Chinese text with Dr Margaret J Pearson, the first woman sinologist to complete a translation of the Zhouyi: the Original I ching: an Authentic Translation of the Book of Changes Based on Recent Discoveries (Tuttle, 2011).
Pearson, professor emerita, taught Chinese history and thought for over thirty years at Skidmore, the New School for Social Research, and the State University of New York at Albany. Much of her translation was done at Cambridge.
The discussion will include a demonstration of ways to consult the book if you are considering a change in your own life, as well as historical examples of others’ experiences with it.
