Abstract
Mian Iftikhar Hussain is the current Information Minister of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. He is a senior leader of the Awami National Party (ANP), the ruling party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Given the strategic location of the province bordering Afghanistan, Mian Iftikhar as a leading politician is one of the most knowledgeable people on topics such as the situation in FATA (Federally Administered Tribal Areas), the Taliban insurgency affecting settled parts of KPK and the general political situation in the province/country.
Known as a strong opponent of the Taliban, Mr. Hussain is no stranger to the dangers of extremist militancy in the country. His only son was killed in an attack by militants in July, 2010.Despite the tragedy he has continued to maintain his principled stance.
