Diabelli: a framework for heterogeneous reasoning

Abstract
Diabelli is the name of our framework that provides infrastructure for extending existing interactive theorem provers with heterogeneous reasoning. We use the phrase heterogeneous reasoning (or HR), to refer to theorem proving involving both diagrammatic and sentential formulae and proof steps.
I will outline the general idea of HR with concepts such as heterogeneous goals, heterogeneous inference steps, and foreign embedded formulae (or placeholders). Afterwards, I will present the Diabelli framework itself, its architecture, and the Speedabelle system, which is an example instantiation of the framework. Speedabelle uses the framework to integrate Isabelle and Speedith (our diagrammatic reasoner for spider diagrams). This enables heterogeneous reasoning with mixed Isabelle/HOL formulae and spider diagrams.
