Abstract
US-China cooperation is essential for the solution of a host of global problems but there is much distrust between the two countries. Can the US and China build trust to establish cooperative institutions? My research looks at trust-building in US-China relations in the light of the Global Financial Crisis. I compare the US and Chinese views of the causes of the Global Financial Crisis, their significance and the way to avoid them, and conclude that there are considerable obstacles to cooperation.
