Abstract
In order to develop a properly historical comparison between Kantās philosophical cosmopolitanism and Vattelās law of nations, one must first work out how to historicise Kantās metaphysics. This is the precondition for situating Kantās cosmopolitanism as expressing the outlook or āstanceā of a particular kind of intellectual culture and faction, thereby enabling it to be situated alongside (not above) Vattelās law of nations, the expression of a different kind of outlook and culture.
