Probing the Quark-Gluon Plasma - recent results from ALICE at the LHC

Abstract
ALICE is a general purpose heavy-ion detector designed to study QCD and, in particular, the quark-gluon plasma – a deconfined state of quarks and gluons. ALICE creates the highest temperatures and densities, ever produced in an experiment, by colliding lead ions at the highest possible energies. Proton-proton and proton-lead collisions are also recorded as an experimental control. A selection of recent results will be presented.
