Abstract
Arup Associates was established in the 1960s and is the UKโs leading multi-disciplinary design studio, offering a unique environment where engineers and architects collaborate as equals. Arup Associates is Architect and Engineer on the new University of Cambridge Sports Centre, currently under construction on the West Cambridge site. This talk will describe the tools and the collaborative design process used by the practice to the deliver the naturally ventilated, naturally lit Sports Centre. The talk will also cover the architectural, structural and environmental challenges that the design team faced on this project.
Arup Associatesโ previous work in Cambridge includes the recently completed Institute of Manufacturing, the Forbes Mellon Library at Clare, the George Thomson building at Corpus Christi and the New Museums Site Building, among others.
