Abstract
Keith studied Geology and Geophysics at Durham University and after taking part in geophysical research cruises in the Arctic, Atlantic and Indian Oceans he obtained his PhD from the University of Swansea in Wales on the plate tectonic setting of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. His career in the energy industry has spanned a wide range of technical, operational and managerial roles in both major International companies and smaller exploration-focussed, independent organisations. His exploration activities have contributed to the discovery of new reserves in the Far East, Europe, Africa and the former Soviet Union. He has taught in both industry and academia and is recognised internationally for his expertise in the integration of multiple geoscience disciplines, new play development, basin analysis, sequence stratigraphy and carbonate geoscience. He regularly contributes to international conferences and has published a number of papers on various aspects of petroleum geoscience. Keith is actively involved in furthering the links between Industry and academia, serving on Industrial Liaison Boards at a number of UK and European Universities, and he regularly presents on a wide range of energy related subjects. He was recently elected President of the European Region of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), the largest professional geoscience organisation in the world. He is currently based in the Head Office of Shell International in The Hague.
