Abstract
Short biography of the speaker:
Cambridge Ph.D in Vertebrate Palaeontology 1968. Assistant Curator in the C.U. Zoology Museum 1968-72; Curator of the Zoological Collections in the Oxford University Museum 1972-2009. Now Emeritus Research Fellow of St John’s College, Oxford.
Research largely on nonmammalian mammals (“mammal-like reptiles”) and the origin of mammals. Books “Mammal-like reptiles and the origin of mammals” (1982); “Fossils and Evolution” (1999); “The origin and evolution of mammals” (2005). Currently writing “The origin of higher taxa: evolutionary mechanisms and ecological circumstances”.
