I will present a joint work with de Fernex, Favre and Urbinati, in which we characterize log terminal singularities (and, more generally, multiplier ideals) on a normal (possibly non Q-Gorenstein) variety in terms of a generalized log discrepancy function defined on the space of all real valuations
