This paper discusses the idea that the human visual system might be a hierarchical, generative Bayesian system. While this idea is unlikely to surprising to anyone attending this reading group, I thought it might be fun to discuss some of the evidence cited in section 3, and to think about visual inference models we know about or can imagine that would fit within the framework proposed.
