Abstract
The Temperley-Lieb algebra has arisen in many contexts including statistical mechanics, in studying Hecke algebras and knot theory.
The Temperley-Lieb algebra has a natural realisation as a diagram algebra, which lends itself well to various generalisations in many directions.
I will give an overview of the representation theory of the Temperley-Lieb algebra and its many connected diagram algebras, including the blob algebra, the symplectic blob algebra, the Brauer algebra and the partition algebra.
