Abstract
This presentation will introduce the audience to several projects currently being incubated within the NYU Music Experience Design Lab (MusEDLab). We research and design new technologies and experiences for music making, learning and engagement with community and industry partners. Our current work focuses on the design of new music learning and making experiences through online music and media creation tools, forums, and interactive media. Three main projects-in-progress will be presented and summarized: 1) a pilot inquiry into the social sharing practices within the Noteflight.com About Composition forum, 2) design-based research outcomes from the Play With Your Music MOOC project, and 3) a preview of the development of new collaborative browser-based music making tools and “making kits” for young musical creators.
