Measuring impact of Internet censorship on user behavior

Abstract
Internet censorship artificially changes the dynamics of resource production and consumption. Intuitively, this should have an impact on user behavior of the censored region. Insights on this phenomenon are largely missing from existing literature due to unavailability of suitable vantage points. In this study, we investigate how censorship influences user behavior in Pakistan by analyzing packet traces captured at a residential/SOHO ISP at different points along the time scale between 2011 and 2013, a period during which the country’s censorship policy evolved. In this talk I will discuss early results and future roadmap.
