Geologists use stranded equilibrium mineral assemblages to reconstruct the Pressure-Temperature-time histories of tectonostratigraphic terranes. Having outlined some of the assumptions generally inherent in the approach, I will discuss how a slightly more nuanced consideration of these can extend the scope of the technique.
