Abstract

VERY USEFUL event on EU Careers taking place next Monday, 3rd March (4.00-5.00pm, Mill Lane): a cooperation between the Careers Service, the CU European Society and the EU Careers Ambassador.

It will consist of a briefing session on EU Careers, namely:

· traineeships (previously called stages) in the European Institutions and Agencies (including the Commission, Court of Justice, and the European External Action Service (roughly the equivalent of a national diplomatic service), and other opportunities for temporary work in the EUI ;

· working for an MEP in Brussels;

· the annual/bi-annual round of graduate level recruitment into roles that can include Policy Officer in European Public Administration, as well roles specifically for Law graduates, and career opportunities in Translation and Interpreting, and in Audit.

Speakers will include: Barry Colfer who undertook a traineeship in the European Parliament ; Clara Rauchegger who has been a trainee at the Court of Justice of the EU and an assistant to an MEP at the European Parliament; Christine Dalby who is currently working in the European Commission Representation in the UK and is a career EU civil servant; Frances Meegan, careers adviser, who recently spent 2 days in Brussels, with other careers advisers from the UK, being briefed on career opportunities for graduates across the EU Institutions and Agencies.
