Abstract
A challenging perspective of the state of modern science and its historical, philosophical and sociological contexts.
Dr Martin Lopez Corredoira will explore why he believes that science is in decline, after centuries of great achievements. Come along and hear what he has to say. It is sure to be a lively debate.
López-Corredoira, PhD in Physics and PhD in Philosophy, works within several areas of Philosophy and is a staff researcher at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (Tenerife, Spain), working in the fields of morphology and dynamics of the Milky Way and the observational foundations of cosmology.
He is a prolific author, with more than 60 papers and several books, including “The Twilight of the Scientific Age” (2013), from which he will speak in this talk, or the publication as editor of “Against the Tide. A Critical Review by a Scientist of How Physics and Astronomy Get Done” (2008).
