Abstract
In the first half of the talk, I outline (informally) a general picture of the relationship between ‘kin selection’ and ‘group selection’. In the second half, I consider how these ideas apply in a human context, and I explore the possibility that a previously neglected process of ‘cultural kin selection’ may have operated in our ancestors.
