o This seminar will consider the tensions and contradictions between the evidence relating to the harms caused by alcohol consumption, the evidence of effective interventions to prevent alcohol misuse and the policies pursued by governments over the last decade.
o The ways this has played out in student unions and student culture more generally will be considered.
o The guidance that NICE produced in 2010 will be used as a case study of the interaction of science, policy, politics and power.
