Abstract
I will describe how geometry and its dynamics can be described using an SU(2) gauge field instead of the metric. This works in 4 spacetime dimensions and is based on the self-duality. The advantage of this new gauge-theoretic formalism is that the (linearised) description of gravitons is much simpler than in the metric language. This simplicity relies on a certain complex of differential operators. I will also touch on the computation of the gravitational one-loop effective action in this language.
