Abstract
In this centenary year and on the eve of Remembrance Sunday, David Reynolds draws on his award-winning book THE LONG SHADOW and related BBC2 series (6,13 and 20 September 2014) to argue that the British have a special problem in coming to terms with the Great War and its legacies. His lecture will take us a long way from the trenches and the poets, right up to current debates about the unity of Britain and our relationship with ‘Europe’.
