- 📍 Venue: Seminar Room 1, Department of History and Philosophy of Science
Abstract
This week we have Niall O’Flaherty (Dept. of History, Cambridge), who will be presenting a discussion on how religion and natural history interacted at the end of the 18th century. In a talk sure to render current debates the seeming echos of prior clashes in natural theology, O’Flaherty will offer insights into arguments for ‘divine design’ that achieved vigorous consideration by such diverse and noteworthy minds as William Paley and Robert Malthus.
Series This talk is part of the Cabinet of Natural History series.
