Abstract
Using a brief review of observational highlights in the field, I will motivate the theoretical and simulational questions concerning exoplanetary atmospheres and discuss the challenges involved in addressing them. Some of the material covered may be found in Heng & Showman (2015, Annual Reviews of Earth & Planetary Sciences; arXiv:1407.4150).
