Abstract
Taking the example of projects I am working on in the history of astronomy and chemistry, I propose to speak about some of the new, productive ways in which the history of photography and the history of science have recently been interacting and the impact of that dialogue in terms of approaches but also of attitudes towards those still awkward historical sources that are cinematographic films and photographs. In particular I propose to discuss a film about and partly made by French physical scientist Jean Perrin as a way of broaching the issue of how nature, science and the scientist are together portrayed in these media.
