Abstract
The oil and gas industry faces a lot of challenges which are tackled by mathematicians – ranging from engineering to commercial and trading. Examples include:- Where shall we position our wells and what is the optimized drilling strategy?
- What is the most efficient way of getting hydrocarbons out of the ground?
- Are operations and technologies economically viable?
- How should we trade oil? etc
This talk gives an overview of where maths is used in the industry. In particular we focus on one engineering and one business application.
Please join us for the talk and also some drinks and snacks afterwards in Central Core.
Target Audience: Undergraduate, Part III and PhD Students.
