Abstract
The network-as-a-service project (www.naas-project.org) is developing hardware and software tools to facilitate the creation of application-level middleboxes: that is, middleboxes that are not confined to using network-level primitives (such as packets); rather they can operate on application-level datastructures. We seek to expose a programming model that is both intuitive and performance-friendly. In this talk I’ll describe our current model and the constraints that it’s designed to meet. (This work is being done as part of the NaaS project and draws from the ideas of the whole team.)
