Abstract
The First World War was the culmination of the contradictions of capitalism in working class slaughter on an industrial scale. out of this war came revolutions across the globe, including the Russian Revolution of 1917. Today, a proxy war between the ailing US Imperialism on the one hand, and Russia on the other, is being played out across the Middle East and the Ukraine. Are we on the brink of WWIII ? 100 years after the Imperialist Great Slaughter, we discuss the prospects for Imperialism and the tasks of the Marxists.
