Abstract

On September 26, students from the Ayotzinapa Normal Rural (Teacher Training College) in Guerrero, were attacked by the local police in Guerrero, which opened fire killing 3 students and another 3 innocent by standers. 23 other students were injured and 43 survivors were then taken by the police and handed over to a criminal drug cartel known as Guerreros Unidos. The local mayor, his wife and his head of police are directly involved in the crime and have fled. The regional governor has resigned because of links to this case. More than a month later they are announced dead without concrete evidence.

A huge protest movement has developed, involving students, militant teacher activists, peasants, workers and their supporters across the country and internationally demanding that if the students were taken alive, they should be brought back alive.
