Abstract
“Ed Moseley, Design Director for AKT II , will be talking through the company’s latest successes and failures in both computational analysis and physical testing relating to the practice’s current projects. The computational approach AKT has been developing over the previous years has been to enable a more direct interaction between their engineering analysis of structures and the architects and architecture they work with, including projects with Zaha Hadid, Heatherwick Studios and Foster and Partners. Form finding and form generating scripts are linked to FE analysis to develop a structural logic to complex forms though project specific scripts developed in house. Physical testing is also incorporated into their work to verify the use of new material and new structural approaches.”
