Drilling for oil and gas - Using Maths to improve performance
- đ¤ Speaker: Dr Andrea Kuesters, BP

Abstract
Drilling down to an oil or gas reservoir several kilometres below surface is very complex and costly. It requires good understanding of the geology and the tools but also science and maths play a vital role and can save millions of dollars. In this talk I will give an overview of the drilling operations and will show where Maths can make a difference. In particular I will go into more detail of a model developed in house to optimise some of the drilling process in hard rock.
