Abstract
The circadian clock is a complex mechanism by which plants tell the time, and which is important for photosynthesis, growth, survival as well as competitive advantage. Recently, we demonstrated that endogenous sucrose derived from photosynthesis provides an input into the Arabidopsis circadian clock through regulation of the core circadian clock gene PSEUDORESPONSE REGULATOR7 (PRR7). I am investigating the mechanisms by which sucrose inhibits the expression of PRR7 . Using a reverse genetics approach I have identified a potential pathway by which sugar signals regulate the activity of PRR7 and the speed of the circadian clock.
