- đ¤ Speaker: Professor Naomi Tadmor, Lancaster University
- đ Date & Time: Tuesday 01 December 2015, 17:45 - 19:15
- đ Venue: Gatsby Room, Wolfson College
Abstract
How can we explain the immense popularity of the Hebrew Bible in Tudor and Stuart England? One reason why it became so influential in early modern society was because it was not only deeply revered and widely propagated, but because it was â at least in some ways â Anglicised. The lecture will examine select key words, passages, and images, to demonstrate the processes of cultural translation.
