Abstract
A former member of the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, Jean-Paul is a leading authority on biomedicine after World War II and an INSERM director of research at the Centre for Research on Medicine, Science, Health and Society in Paris. This talk will review recent work on diethylstilbestrol (DES), a controversial synthetic estrogen, and draw general lessons for the relations between red (medical) and green (agricultural) biotechnology.
