Abstract
There is a quietly developing crisis in the provision of forensic science in the UK. At some time in the next few years it will hit the headlines and we will all wonder how it was allowed to happen. This lecture will explore the part that forensic geology has played in the crisis and what, if any part it has to play in the future. We will look at a both criminal and civil forensic geology in order to discuss where it can be helpful, what its limitations are and where it should most definitely not be used.
