Interplay of Diffusivity and Reactivity in Organic Aerosol Ageing
- ๐ค Speaker: Dr Sarah Steimer, Cambridge University

Abstract
Ageing of atmospheric aerosol particles affects their composition and properties. Driven by temperature and humidity, particles containing organic compounds may change their physical state from liquid to amorphous solid. These transitions can influence condensed phase reaction kinetics due to limitations of mass transport, and may therefore affect the chemical ageing of those particles.
This talk presents results from investigations of such changes in reaction kinetics for a proxy for oxygenated, water-soluble organic matter.
Series This talk is part of the Centre for Atmospheric Science seminars, Chemistry Dept. series.
