Abstract
Deryck Cooke (1919-76) is known around the world for his ‘Performing Version’ of Mahler’s unfinished Tenth Symphony—but he was also one of the finest music broadcasters ever to work at the BBC . In this talk, Mark Doran discusses some of Cooke’s radio scripts now held at the UL, and illustrates them with recordings from his own collection.
