Zoos and aquariums around the world welcome over 700 million people through their gates annually. Love them or hate them, these institutions have an unrivalled platform to engage their visitors with pro-environmental knowledge and facilitate behaviour change that supports wildlife and wild places. Six years after embarking on its journey to become the world’s leading zoo-based conservation organisation, we check in with Zoos Victoria to see what zoo-based conservation actually looks like.
