The oil and gas industry faces a lot of challenges which are tackled by mathematicians – ranging from engineering to commercial and trading. Examples include:

· Where shall we position our wells and what is the optimized drilling strategy?

· What is the most efficient way of getting hydrocarbons out of the ground.

All students are welcome to either BP sessions. · Are operations and technologies economically viable?

· How should we trade oil?

This talk gives an overview of where maths is used in the energy industry for business, engineering and science.
