Abstract
This workshop will address the compatibility of academia and industry. Recently there has been a massive boom of collaboration with industry, to ensure sustainability, as research can no longer be exclusively supported by the state. A lot of PhD students question whether they should stay in academia or move to industry providing they can still pursue their research interests. However, there are no obvious paths for potentially combining academic goals within an industrial setting. We will discuss the skills PhD students should acquire during their PhD to prepare them for a career in industry or a joint career between academia and industry.
