Abstract
Technology breaks and goes wrong. The Ariane 5 rocket disaster. Your laptop just before a deadline. How as Computer Scientists, can we make systems more reliable than their components? How do we design systems that run 24 hours a day, every day of the year? This talk will introduce hardware and information redundancies to improve fault tolerance, and how building on top of these primitives is used to create non-stop processing systems.
Series This talk is part of the Churchill CompSci Talks series.
