Abstract
For more than four centuries Jesuits have studied, translated, commented on, and attempted to refute the Qur’an. This talk will look at some of their earliest engagements with this text, with special attention to a virtually unknown translation of 1622 made by the Jesuit Ignazio Lomellini.
