Abstract
Disasters are chaotic, lives are at stake and good decisions have to be made fast by those trying to help. At these times information is critical, but where does it come from, how can we make sense of it and how can we communicate it to those who need it most? I use examples from short emergency missions as a mapper in earthquakes, floods and conflicts to show how the international community responds to a disaster and how managing and mapping information can help.
