Abstract

Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger is widely known as former federal minister of justice (cabinet Kohl and cabinet Merkel) and member of the German liberal party FDP .

Her political experience makes her a sought-after interview partner on legal topics ranging from data retention over internet censorship to an alleged no-spy treaty. She speaks out against child molestation and demands a Europe-wide immigration policy. She has received several prizes and awards recognizing her work as liberal politician and she supports several institutions as honorary member.

The Cambridge University German Society and the Department of German and Dutch proudly present Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberg as our first speaker of this Lent Term. The topic of her talk will be “Sicherheit und Freiheit angesichts terroristischer Gefährdungen.” There will also be time for questions (Q&A). The Department for Dutch and German invites us to a reception right after the talk (same venue).

Please note that the event will be held in German and that places are limited to 40 according to college rules. So please come early to avoid disappointment.
